WBC Cancels Eliminator Fight Between Whittaker and Buatsi

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has canceled the decision to sanction the eliminator bout between Britons Ben Whittaker and Joshua Buatsi. This fight was approved at the beginning of December during the WBC Convention.

The winner of the fight would have become the mandatory challenger for WBC champion David Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs).

Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) secured stoppage victories early in the first two of his previous bouts. Buatsi (20-1, 13 KOs) won his previous confrontation by judges' decision against Zach Parker. That victory sparked much controversy among fans regarding the correctness of the judges' ruling.
