Serhii Lapin, director of the team of WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, shared his thoughts on the possibility of a fight between the Ukrainian star and influencer-boxer Jake Paul.
“Jake Paul approached Usyk after the Dubois fight purely for hype — that’s how Instagram works.
Nothing serious has come from it since,” Lapin said.
In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) knocked out Daniel Dubois in the fifth round and became the undisputed world champion for the third time in his career. After the fight, Usyk and Jake Paul staged a staredown.
On December 19, Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will face former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, who works closely with Usyk’s team.
