Teofimo Lopez: “We Should Announce the Shakur Fight Very Soon”

WBO Junior Welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez has shared details about his upcoming fight against WBC Lightweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson.

“I’m coming back to Las Vegas. I’m excited. Here in Honduras, it’s been great, I had a good time, but besides that — I can’t wait to kick Shakur’s ass. For sure.

We should announce the fight very soon, we’ll know the details this week, fingers crossed. They’re saying January, some say February. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Let’s make the fight in January, why are we waiting so long?

We should have already fought by the end of this year, but you know, people have their own plans. We’ll see what happens,” said Lopez.

Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) last entered the ring in May against Arnold Barboza, winning by unanimous decision.

In July, Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) defeated interim WBC Lightweight champion William Zepeda by unanimous decision.
