Sulaiman Reveals When Exactly the Fight Between Inoue and Nakatani Could Take Place

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed when exactly the confrontation between Japanese boxers Naoya Inoue and Junto Nakatani could take place. It is reported that the meeting is preliminarily planned for May 2026. The probable date is May 5 (the option of May 3 is also being considered).

The meeting could take place at the Tokyo Dome arena in Japan. At stake will be the title of undisputed champion in the Super Bantamweight division. All authoritative belts in this category are held by Naoya Inoue.

In 2025, Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) defeated four opponents in a row. The last fight took place at the end of December — Naoya defeated Alan David Picasso by unanimous decision. In the co-main event of the same tournament in Riyadh, Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) outboxed Sebastian Hernandez, also securing a victory by judges' decision in his debut bout in this division.
