Pacquiao’s Team Names Desired Opponent

Sean Gibbons, advisor to eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, revealed the Filipino legend’s plans moving forward.

According to Gibbons, the 46-year-old has no intention of a rematch with WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios. Instead, Manny is aiming for WBA champion Rolando Romero.

“No Barrios right now. Manny is focused on Rolly Romero and the WBA title. At 46, he wants meaningful fights to make history. But nothing is concrete yet. Romero is just one of the possible opponents for Manny,” said Gibbons.

On July 19, Manny Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) fought to a majority draw against Mario Barrios in a title bout.

Rolando Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) last fought in May, defeating Ryan Garcia by unanimous decision.
