Mike Tyson vs. Daniel Dubois: Ex-Trainer of Tyson Believes It Would Be a Top Fight

Former trainer of Mike Tyson, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, and other world champions, Teddy Atlas, shared his thoughts on a hypothetical matchup between a prime Mike Tyson and current IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois.

"If fighters from Mike Tyson’s era could beat him, then boxers from the 20th century could too.

Joshua would have a tough time because Tyson could close the distance and catch him. But Joshua might also have a chance to catch Tyson on the way in. Even so, I think Joshua would be the underdog in this fight if Tyson were in his prime. With Tyson’s speed and elusiveness, he could break through and hurt Joshua. He’d have a real chance to cause Joshua some pain.

Against Fury, however, it would be a bit more complicated.

I think a fight between Mike Tyson and Dubois would be very intriguing because I don’t think people realize just how strong a puncher Daniel Dubois is. He’s tough, a very good, powerful puncher who relies on raw strength—almost like George Foreman," Atlas said.

Daniel Dubois is scheduled to defend his IBF title on February 22 against Joseph Parker.
