Lubin on Ortiz Fight: “This is going to be a real war”

30-year-old American junior middleweight Erickson Lubin shared his thoughts ahead of his upcoming bout against interim WBC champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.

“Erickson Lubin vs. Vergil Ortiz is going to be a real war. It’s ‘Hammer Time.’ This is a legacy-defining fight. He’s young, undefeated, explosive. And that’s exactly the kind of opponent who opens all the doors for me.

I’m in my prime and I’m excited to show the world that I’m the best fighter in the junior middleweight division. I’ve been in the WBC rankings for a long time. That belt has always been one of my favorites — it’s a prestigious trophy.

I’ve been the WBC No. 1 contender since 2019 and constantly fought for challenger positions. We moved toward the IBF because the opportunity came. I believe this fight puts me first in line for any championship belt and establishes me as the number one guy at 154,” — said Lubin in an interview with FightHype.

The fight between Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KO) and Vergil Ortiz (23-0, 21 KO) will take place on November 8 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
