Lewis: “I’d Love to Be in This Era — I’d Happily Step In with Usyk”

The legendary former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis shared his thoughts on the Wembley Stadium showdown between Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk and Britain’s Daniel Dubois.

“A big win. Usyk did everything right — so many good things. I think Daniel came out too aggressively. He should have started slower, especially in the first round. He reached too far forward and paid the price.

It’s truly phenomenal. I wish I were fighting in this era. I’d happily step into the ring with Usyk. I don’t understand why nobody can figure him out — I could. Usyk is the best of this era. He does everything right: moves well, avoids punches, slips shots. He’s very hard to beat.

Advice for Daniel Dubois? Keep boxing. Let this be a lesson you use in your next fight. Don’t give up. I believe he still has a long, bright future in the sport,” Lewis said.
