Huni Fight Scheduled for December 6 Has Been Canceled — Justis’ Trainer Has Died

Tasman promoter Mick Francis announced that the fight between Australia’s Justis Huni and New Zealand’s Kiki Toa Leutele has been officially canceled. He explained the reasons behind the decision.

“Three weeks ago, Justis’ trainer passed away, and Kiki picked up a minor injury in training.

This fight night is already pretty stacked. Both guys were ready to fight, but if they’re not going to be at their best… they deserve to perform at the highest level, and you can build a separate card around this matchup.

Justis is OK. He’s a strong guy. He’s grieving, like anyone would in his position. Kerry Fui wasn’t just his trainer — he’s been with Justis since he was 13, so obviously he was an important part not only of his career, but of his life,” said Francis.

The bout was scheduled for the undercard of Jai Opetaia vs Huseyn Chinkara.
