Ben Davison, trainer of Britain’s former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, shared his thoughts on a potential showdown with American influencer‑boxer Jake Paul.
“I don’t like any of this. First, how are people even talking about it? Second, where’s the safety in boxing? You know what I mean? There’s a very real risk that something goes wrong.
Unfortunately, it might take exactly such a case for people to stop and think: ‘Hold on, we need to review this system.’ But someone will approve it, someone will allow it, someone will sanction it—simply because there’s too much money on the line,” Davison said.
Anthony Joshua (28‑4, 25 KOs) last fought in September 2024, when he was stopped in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois. In May, Joshua underwent elbow surgery. A day earlier, promoter Eddie Hearn outlined a new timetable for the Briton’s return to the ring.
