On September 21, Wembley Stadium in London, UK, will host an event headlined by the bout between Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and IBF heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs).
Matchroom Boxing head – announced that around 70,000 tickets were sold on the first day of sales. The promoter added that once all 90,000 tickets, for which the stadium is currently set up, are sold, they plan to request the city council to increase the capacity to 100,000 seats, aiming to set a new attendance record for boxing in the UK.
In addition to the Joshua vs. Dubois fight, the undercard will feature the following bouts:
IBF and IBO super featherweight champion (up to 58.9 kg) Anthony Cacace (22-1, 8 KOs) will defend his title against Josh Warrington (31-3-1, 8 KOs).
– Joshua Buatsi (18-0, 13 KOs) and Willie Hutchinson (18-1, 13 KOs) will compete for the WBO interim light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg).
– Tyler Denny (19-2-3, 1 KO) and Hamzah Sheeraz (20-0, 16 KOs) will face off for the EBU European middleweight title (up to 72.5 kg).
– Liam Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs) will go against Josh Kelly (15-1-1, 8 KOs).
– Mark Chamberlain (16-0, 12 KOs) will meet Josh Padley (14-0, 4 KOs).
Additionally, the organizers announced that former Oasis lead vocalist Liam Gallagher will perform three Oasis songs as a special guest.
The winner of the Joshua vs. Dubois fight is likely to face the winner of the rematch between Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs), scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
