Sanchez – Ajagba: IBF Schedules Purse Bid

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has announced a purse bid for the final Heavyweight eliminator between Cuba’s Frank Sanchez and Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba, BoxingScene reports.

Because the sides failed to reach an agreement within the allotted timeframe, the IBF set the purse bid for 5 August. The fighters can still strike a deal before that date. If either man declines to participate, he will be removed from the IBF top‑10 rankings and face a six‑month ban from IBF‑sanctioned bouts.

The winner will become the mandatory challenger to the title currently held by undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk (24‑0, 15 KOs).

In February, Frank Sanchez (25‑1, 18 KOs) stopped Ramon Echeverria via third‑round TKO. In May, Efe Ajagba (20‑1‑1, 14 KOs) boxed a draw with Martin Bakole — MD 10. Sanchez and Ajagba have met before: in October 2021, Sanchez won by unanimous decision.
