Hrgovic Calls Out Dubois for a Rematch: “This Is the Fight I Want Most”

Thirty-three-year-old Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic has made it clear that he wants a second crack at former world champion Daniel Dubois.

I hope I get that fight again — and this time I win. It’s the bout I want more than anything. I want a rematch. I believe I can beat him.

A lot of bad things happened before the fight. I picked up an injury in the final weeks of sparring and then got sick right before the bout. You could see it. After six rounds I had no energy because of the illness, and I underestimated him. I thought I’d destroy him,” Hrgovic said.

Filip Hrgovic (18-1, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) first met on 1 June 2024 during the 5-vs-5 card pitting Matchroom Boxing against Queensberry Promotions. Dubois won by eighth-round TKO when the referee, acting on the ringside doctor’s advice, stopped the fight due to a severe cut over Hrgovic’s eye.
