Hamzah Sheeraz Confirms – Canelo Could Be His Next Opponent

British Super Middleweight contender Hamzah Sheeraz is confident that his next fight could be against undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“The win over Berlanga has undoubtedly made me the frontrunner for a fight with Canelo, and I believe it’s a very realistic and possible option for my next career fight. That’s the stuff dreams are made of.

You always hear the saying ‘idols become rivals’ – and that’s exactly what this is. I’ve always looked up to him since childhood, growing up watching him, and now I have the chance, or really the chance, to step into the ring with him.

Now my mentality has to change. I met with Prince Naseem Hamed, and he told me: ‘Now you have to look at him as an opponent, someone who’s trying to take the bread off your table.’

So the whole ideology changes. It’s about becoming the unified Super Middleweight champion. That means the world to me, it means everything – and I can’t wait for it,” said Sheeraz.

The next fight for Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) will take place in September against Terence Crawford, with the undisputed status at Super Middleweight on the line.
