Promoter Reacts to Turki’s Desire for Usyk–Itauma Fight

Founder and head of Queensberry Promotions Frank Warren shared his thoughts on a potential clash between his fighter, unbeaten British prospect Moses Itauma, and Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk.

– Turki Alalshikh wrote on Twitter — or rather, Ring Magazine wrote — that Turki wants to see Moses fight Oleksandr Usyk.

– Yes. Well, look, we’re not rushing. I appreciate it. That would be a wonderful fight. We’ll see what happens. We need to sit down and talk. Obviously, it would be a fantastic matchup.

– But tell us honestly. Would you put Moses against Usyk right now, if everything lined up?

– Honestly, I’m not going to decide anything today. I need to talk with the team, with the guys. We don’t do anything in haste. This isn’t a competition of “who’s the toughest.”

We’ll weigh everything up, think it through, and make the decision. And of course, I’m very pleased because we’re working closely, we’re partners with His Excellency and the organizers of Riyadh Season, and we enjoy this cooperation. Together we’ll find the right solution.

As a reminder, on August 16, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) knocked out Dillian Whyte in the first round. Key fight stats from RTF were published here.

On July 19, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of their rematch to become the undisputed champion of the world for the third time.
