Devin Haney: “If Anyone Can Beat Canelo, It’s Crawford”

American Welterweight Devin Haney has shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash between 35-year-old Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and 37-year-old American Terence Crawford.

I think it’s a good fight. It’s the kind of fight we’ve wanted to see for a long time. Bud (Terence Crawford) has the skills. He’s got the discipline, the boxing IQ to win.

But Canelo has all of that too — plus the size. So I think it’s going to be a great fight. I’m happy Bud got this chance. My father was the one who told him he needed to take this fight. Seriously. Bud — I don’t know if you’ve seen it — but he admitted that my father told him long ago that his main rival was Canelo.

Does my father back Bud? Of course. And I’m backing Bud too. But will it be easy? No. But if anyone can do it, it’s him,” said Haney.

The showdown between Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) for the Undisputed Super Middleweight title will take place on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, USA. Full analysis and detailed fight statistics are available via the link.

In May, Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) defeated Jose Carlos Ramirez by unanimous decision, and on November 22 he is set to face WBO Welterweight champion Brian Norman.
