German outlets BILD and BoxSport report that a court in Potsdam has officially opened a bankruptcy case against 40-year-old former interim junior middleweight world champion Jack Culcay.
According to the reports, Culcay owes his former promoter Ingo Volckmann and Agon Sports around €100,000 — largely due to advance payments. After suffering a stoppage loss to Bakhram Murtazaliev in 2024, Culcay joined the Agon stable as a trainer, earning €2,000 per month. However, he left the position in June. Now, Agon Sports is seeking repayment of the advances that were previously issued.
“It’s a shame that it all ended like this. I had a good relationship with Jack and after his retirement I gave him a job as a trainer. For someone without formal education and without a coaching license, it was a good position with a solid salary.
Once or twice the payments still came, and then — nothing. I’m sad that Jack didn’t come and talk to me. I would have been the last person to refuse to work something out.
But mistakes have to teach you something — I will never again advance money to my fighters. Culcay was the exception,” said Ingo Volckmann.
