American WBA Super Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford will lose his belt once he steps into the ring against Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Álvarez, insider Dan Rafael reports, citing WBA President Gilberto Mendoza.
Abass Barrau, who captured the interim title with his victory over Yoenis Telles, will be elevated to full WBA champion status. His mandatory challenger is expected to be Jermell Charlo.
The mega fight between Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) and Saul Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) takes place on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, USA. On the line will be the undisputed super middleweight championship.
