Benn on Eubank: “No More Anger”

Benn on Eubank: “No More Anger”

British boxer Conor Benn shared his thoughts on the fight against compatriot, IBO Middleweight Champion Chris Eubank Jr.

The first bout between Benn and Eubank in April 2025 has already been labeled one of the year’s most thrilling contests, raising expectations for their rematch even higher.

According to Conor, it was excessive emotions that worked against him in the first encounter — and that’s exactly what he plans to address before the return fight.

“I think the only thing that held me back — was my emotions. But that’s a battle with myself, and that’s what I have to work on in the rematch.

It was definitely my weakness before the fight. There were a lot of emotions. It was my first fight at home (in the UK) in almost three years. I think it was the fact that I really wanted to hurt Chris and give the fans the fight they were waiting for. But sometimes you have to be selfish and say to yourself: ‘Okay, maybe you need to make the fight boring, but win, instead of going in there and doing what you feel like doing.’

I don’t like him. But there’s no more anger. I think I’ve let it all out. Hopefully, yes. He doesn’t really concern me. He performed well, turned out to be much stronger and more durable than I thought. Honestly, I let myself down. I can’t even look at him. I just look at myself and think: ‘What were you doing in there?’” said Benn.

On June 26, Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) defeated Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision — all three judges scored it 116-112 in favor of Chris. That loss marked the first defeat of Conor’s professional career.

The rematch is set for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, and will be broadcast on DAZN.
