Bill Haney on Devin vs. Conor Benn: “What has he done to earn it?”

Bill Haney, father and trainer of WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney, believes British contender Conor Benn has not yet earned the right to share the ring with his son.

“Conor ‘When’ — when will he get a belt? When will he do what Devin has done? When will he accomplish anything in boxing on Devin Haney’s level? At least one thing before he starts telling us anything.

We filled a stadium in Australia (against George Kambosos). We did that for the undisputed title. We beat Lomachenko. There are many incredibly talented fighters who deserve that chance,” Bill Haney said.

On November 23, Devin Haney (33–0, 15 KO) defeated Brian Norman by unanimous decision, becoming a world champion in his third weight class.

On November 15, Conor Benn (24–1, 14 KO) beat Chris Eubank Jr. by unanimous decision in their rematch.
