Benn Admits He Underrated Eubank and Expected a Knockout

British boxer Conor Benn spoke at the press conference ahead of his rematch with compatriot Chris Eubank Jr., admitting that he underestimated him in their first fight.

“It’s always tough to accept defeat. Nobody prepares to lose. It taught me a lot. I went back to the basics, put in the work, and gained experience. Without a doubt, on November 15 you’ll see the best version of me.

I take my hat off to Eubank, because it takes two to dance. And he was that partner for me. Did I underestimate him? Yes. I truly believed I would knock him out in three or four rounds. I underestimated him, but he gave me one hell of a fight. Honestly, I can’t wait for the rematch.

I’m not going into the ring looking to beat him into unconsciousness, no matter how much I’d like to. I’ll step into the ring and do everything I can with discipline. I really want to use the experience and lessons I gained from that first fight,” Benn said.

The 28-year-old Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) faced 36-year-old Eubank (35-3, 25 KOs) in April 2025 and lost by decision. Their first clash is regarded as one of the best fights of the year.

The rematch is scheduled for November 15.
