Robert Smith, Chief Executive of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC), has responded to Chris Eubank Jr.’s claim that after his fight with Conor Benn, the ambulance he was in was blocked at the arena.
“Obviously, I can’t say too much about Chris Eubank, as we have sought legal advice. But it is unpleasant to hear someone suggest that any member of the Board or myself did something that would harm a boxer or his health. And to claim that someone deliberately stopped an ambulance from leaving the arena — that sounds completely unbelievable,” Smith said.
The fight between Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) and Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) took place on April 26 and ended with Eubank winning by unanimous decision. A rematch is scheduled for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
