Without exaggeration, this is one of the best fights boxing has to offer right now – not just in women’s boxing, but across the entire sport. Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor have already shared twenty rounds of thrilling, intense, high-skill combat across two meetings in 2022 and 2024. These are fights worth revisiting again and again.

Individually, their styles are well-defined. Serrano brings grit and aggression; Taylor, precision and a cleaner technical application of her tools. But when they meet in the ring, it’s always the same equation: fast-paced, technical warfare. These two bring the best out of each other.

Taylor is three years older – now 39 – but in terms of boxing experience, they’re equals. Both are undisputed champions with deep resumes and the kind of ring IQ that only comes with time. These are two seasoned professionals who’ve seen it all and now want to settle the score once and for all.

Again, this is best considered both in and outside of their direct encounters.

On her own, Taylor is more economical – averaging around 300 punches per fight with 38% accuracy. Serrano throws significantly more, often between 500 and 600, connecting at roughly 34%. So while the accuracy edge is Taylor’s, Amanda lands more punches overall through sheer volume.

In their head-to-head battles, Taylor’s activity increases dramatically. She’s forced to match Serrano’s relentless pace, even if she doesn’t quite match her output. Against Serrano, Katie throws significantly more punches than she usually does against opponents who can’t match Amanda’s pressure and volume.

Both fighters last stepped into the ring in fall 2024 – their second encounter. But between fights one and two, their paths diverged.

Taylor fought three times (excluding the rematch), winning twice. She lost a close decision to Chantelle Cameron before avenging that loss in the rematch.

Serrano, on the other hand, stayed busier – five fights, five wins. In one standout bout, she dismantled Stevie Morgan, who had significant size advantages, inside just two rounds.

Serrano’s power is simply more imposing. With a stoppage rate of over 60% compared to Taylor’s 25%, Amanda has proven finishing ability. That said, in boxing, timing and precision often trump raw power – and that’s where Katie excels. Her accuracy and shot selection make up for the lack of knockout strength.

Neither has ever been stopped. Serrano fought through a serious cut in the rematch that affected her vision but made it to the final bell. Taylor absorbed everything Serrano threw over twenty rounds – though some of those moments were clearly taxing.

Still, the numbers matter: 36 and 39 years old, countless wars behind them. As is often the case with trilogies drawn out over years, the third installment carries a much higher risk of a stoppage.

This trilogy concludes where it began: Madison Square Garden. It’ll be Serrano’s fifth fight at the venue – three wins already, one of them by stoppage.

Taylor, meanwhile, is undefeated at MSG. She’s fought there three times – winning all three by decision: against Eva Wahlström (2018), Delfine Persoon (2019), and Serrano herself (2022). No knockouts, but no losses either.

Still, Taylor’s accuracy and composure have repeatedly won her rounds in the eyes of the judges. Major stylistic shifts from either fighter aren’t expected.
