Serhii Lapin Reveals How Much Usyk Has Donated to Help Ukraine

Sergey Lapin , CEO of the team of WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and co-founder of Ready To Fight, discussed how much Oleksandr Usyk has contributed to aid Ukraine during the full-scale Russian invasion and what plans the Alexander Usyk Foundation has.

- What are the plans for the Usyk Foundation in 2024? How do you hope to attract funds in the medium term? I saw in the foundation’s January 2024 report that Usyk personally contributed 10 million hryvnias to his own foundation. Does Alexander have enough motivation to practically single-handedly finance the foundation?

- Our plan is to draw attention to the Usyk Foundation during the megafight in Saudi Arabia, as our team usually does during past fights. Activity greatly increases during fights, making it a convenient moment to raise more funds to help Ukraine.

There are foundation projects that require Alexander’s direct participation. But it’s very challenging right now. The training camp has already lasted about six months. However, after the fight, we will return to these projects. Currently, we continue to develop various directions for fundraising and assistance.

As for Sasha's personal contributions, they are regular, and it’s not only the work of our foundation. Usyk traditionally does not publicize such moments. It’s no secret that Alexander helps the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I know that the total aid to Ukraine already exceeds one million dollars,- said Lapin.

Usyk's next fight is on May 18 against Tyson Fury, with the undisputed heavyweight championship on the line.
