Tyson Urges People to Give Usyk His Due: “The Best Heavyweight of This Generation”

Former undisputed Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has stated that he considers Oleksandr Usyk the best heavyweight of the current era, explaining why he holds that view.

“I’m very impressed with Oleksandr. Say whatever you want, but he’s the best heavyweight of this generation. Nobody can beat him. He beat everybody. He beat everybody, so he deserves his credit.

How would he look in our time? I don’t know. Maybe he would look good against some of us, and against others — not so good. You know, it’s hard for me to see him dominating that era.

Back then, the fights were different, you understand? Everything came down to aggression. Fighters didn’t make big money, fighters didn’t have many rights. When we got into the ring, the aggressive fighter took more rounds. Even if he was taking more punches, if he made the fight — the round was his. Everything came down to emotions.

If you’re an emotional fighter, you bring people to the arena, you are the king. You can be the best fighter in the world, but if you’re boring — nobody wants to watch you. You can beat everybody, but nobody will want to watch your fights because you’re boring,” Tyson said.
