Serhii Lapin: "Usyk, Like Our Entire Team, Will Always Be Involved in Boxing"

Serhii Lapin, co-founder of the Ready to Fight platform and director of the team for unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs), shared insights into the Ukrainian’s future following the rematch against former champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

Previously, Usyk mentioned the possibility of returning to cruiserweight, a rematch with IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), and even participating in bare-knuckle boxing. However, Lapin emphasized that no definitive plans have been set for the next steps.

"The only realistic option for him after winning is to go home and spend time with his family. That’s something he’s fully committed to. As for what happens next—time will tell.

Usyk, like our entire team, will always remain involved in boxing and in developing the sport. It’s hard to tell how serious he is when answering questions about long-term plans (such as transitioning to bare-knuckle boxing).

If you’ve noticed, his answers vary every time. So, it’s better not to fast-forward the movie to see what happens next, but instead follow the story step by step and fully appreciate how it unfolds," Lapin explained.

The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place on December 21 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In their first bout, Usyk secured a split decision victory, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.
