Roman Fury Explains Under What Condition Tyson Won't Fight

In an interview with the YouTube channel BBTV BOXING, Roman Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), and a heavyweight fighter himself (up to 90.7 kg) with a record of (3-0, 1 KO), spoke about the British fighter's injury prior to the fight against the WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

Interviewer: The fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was called off. Tickets were booked, but then a terrible event happened. Did you see that sparring video? What did you think when you saw it?

- It was definitely an elbow. At first, I thought it was an uppercut, but it ended with an elbow strike that caused the cut. It's one of those things I can't call intentional because I wasn't there. It seems like his sparring partner is a good guy. It's just one of those things that happen. People will say anything. Even if it had happened at the start of the training camp, it's still a serious cut that needs time to heal. It's just a terrible situation that happens. There's nothing you can do about it. What's the point of going into the ring with a cut? You have to wait until it heals.

- Now, many are discussing: will Tyson be ready by May 18th, as the cut was serious. He got stitches and all, but will Tyson be prepared by that date? Such discussions are happening now.

- Look, I have confidence in Tyson. He's an experienced boxer and knows his business. If he feels he'll be ready - he'll fight. If he feels he's not ready - he won't. It's simple. Maybe there's pressure on him, but I'm 100% confident in him. If you've seen the photos on Instagram, he's in very good shape. Much better than recently. This shows he's working, and I think there will be enough time, and he'll be a completely different beast. And I believe he'll just bulldoze Usyk! That's my view. So many people have doubted him throughout his career, considered him an underdog, and he went out and demolished guys. Like Deontay Wilder, like Klitschko. It will be the same with Usyk! And after that, in my opinion, he can hang up his gloves, with nothing more to prove.

- They recently released their joint show, where they were face to face. It was interesting. Of course, Usyk has a language barrier, and they couldn't properly exchange opinions, but they're really the two best fighters in the division. We're keeping our fingers crossed that everything works out. You said you feel Tyson will have nothing more to prove if he emerges victorious.

- 100%. Usyk is the best heavyweight in the world, aside from Tyson. And the second best is Wilder. Tyson beat him. Wilder might be damaged now, not the same as he was, but Usyk is the biggest challenge. And don't get me wrong, if this fight doesn't happen, I'll be the first to be disappointed. It's the fight everyone wants to see. And I want to see what happens. I'm very confident in Tyson, and the fight will definitely happen. And, as I said, after Usyk, there's nothing more to prove. At that point, there's no sense in risking and taking punches when you've won all the titles, when you're the undisputed champion, and you have it all. So he can easily hang up his gloves. Because after Usyk, there will be someone else, then someone else, then another. That's boxing. There will always be those wondering: "What will happen in this fight?" But Tyson has earned everything, in my opinion.

This detailed perspective from Roman Fury sheds light on Tyson Fury's mindset and preparation ahead of the highly anticipated bout with Oleksandr Usyk, emphasizing the critical factors that influence a fighter's readiness and the strategic considerations that come into play in elite boxing matchups.
