Streaming giant Netflix has shared the viewing statistics for the highly anticipated bout between former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) and popular blogger-turned-boxer Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs).
According to Netflix, the fight was watched live by 60 million households worldwide, with peak viewership reaching 65 million. This solidified the event’s status as one of the most-watched fights of the year.
The undercard headliner, a clash between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the undisputed super lightweight title, drew nearly 50 million households globally. This sets the stage for it potentially becoming the most-watched women’s sporting event in U.S. history.
The AT&T Stadium in Arlington hosted 72,300 fans, setting a new attendance record for a boxing event outside Las Vegas in the United States. Ticket sales for the main event generated over $18 million, doubling the revenue from Saúl Álvarez’s 2021 bout with Billy Joe Saunders, which totaled $9 million.
To recap, on November 15, Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. For the 58-year-old Tyson, it marked his first official return to the ring since June 2005. The fight, contested over eight 2-minute rounds, was officially recorded in the boxers' professional records.
