Michael Buffer Names the Greatest Boxer in History

Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer revealed his pick for the greatest boxer of all time, emphasizing pure fighting ability, in a special interview with Ready To Fight.

"If we’re talking about the best fighter of all time, I still believe it’s Sugar Ray Robinson.

There was a movie—Raging Bull. It starts with a fight where Jake LaMotta beats Sugar Ray Robinson. But if you look at it from a boxing perspective, Robinson was a welterweight, while LaMotta was a middleweight. This was New York—fighters just had to go at it if they had an agreement.

Robinson always beat LaMotta. He was 40-0, the smaller man, yet he fought a middleweight and lost their first fight.

They met again—just 21 days later. But before that, Robinson had already fought another 10-rounder just a week prior. Still, he came back and beat LaMotta.

This is the greatest boxer in history—without a doubt," Buffer told.

The full interview will soon be available on the Ready To Fight YouTube channel.
