Absolute lightweight champion Devin Haney believes that the promotion company Top Rank is specially delaying the date of his fight with ex-champion in three divisions Vasyl Lomachenko.
“These people want to try to move my next fight with Lomachenko to May, knowing that the longer I stay in weight, the harder it is to keep it! Let's do it in March."
Earlier, promoter Bob Arum said that the fight between Lomachenko and Haynie is planned for mid-March 2023. The fight could take place in the Middle East, in Las Vegas or in Madison Square Garden in New York.
Devin has repeatedly declared his readiness to meet Lomachenko in the ring. In his last fight, Haynie defeated George Kambosos again and retained the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.
Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. According to the results of the fight, all three judges gave victory to Lomachenko - 115:113, 116:112 and 117:111.
