IBF cruiserweight champion Jay Opetaia (27–0, 21 KOs) spoke exclusively to Ready to Fight about his expectations for 2025.
– What are your hopes for 2025? Maybe capturing other belts, moving up to heavyweight, challenging Oleksandr Usyk?
– This year I want to become the undisputed champion of the world. We’re exploring ways to unify.
– Would you like to become a heavyweight champion down the line?
– Absolutely. Bridgerweight also interests me. I’d like to become a world champion in three weight categories. But first, I want to become undisputed in cruiserweight. I want to collect those belts.
On January 8, Jay Opetaia knocked out David Nyika in the fourth round, successfully defending his title. After the fight, the Australian called out WBA and WBO champion Hilberto Ramirez.
