Inoue Sets Japanese Boxing Record for Highest Purse

Hideyuki Ohashi, manager of the undisputed super bantamweight champion (up to 55,3 kg) Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs), has disclosed the details of his fighter's purse for the bout against Luis Nery (35-2, 27 KOs). It is a record sum for Japanese boxing.

According to Ohashi, Inoue received 1 billion Japanese yen (or $6.5 million), the highest amount ever earned by a Japanese boxer in a single bout. However, Inoue could earn even more—up to $13 million—if he accepts an offer from Turki Al-Sheikh for his next fight.

Previously, the Japanese boxer was offered to fight this fall at Wembley Stadium on the undercard of an Anthony Joshua fight.
