Former undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) shared insights on the most challenging fights of his career.
"I've had many tough fights. The fight with Floyd Mayweather was difficult. But perhaps the toughest fight was with Gennadiy Golovkin.
Although many consider Golovkin to be the hardest puncher, I never felt power like I did from James Kirkland. When he hit me on the arms, it felt like being struck by a rock. I said to myself, 'I need to finish this guy immediately, or he's going to keep hitting me like this throughout the fight,'" Canelo explained.
Saúl Álvarez and James Kirkland faced off in May 2015. Canelo sent Kirkland to the canvas in the first round and twice more in the third round, ending the fight with a KO in the third round.
