The Lomachenko-Haney fight may be postponed: details

According to ESPN, talks about a fight between Vasyl Lomachenko and Devin Haynie for all the lightweight titles have been going on for the past few weeks, but no agreement has been reached so far.

They disagree about the date of the match

Haney wants to fight against Lomachenko in the coming months, which Vasyl does not agree with. The Ukrainian is not against returning to the ring in May, because he wants to get additional time to prepare for the fight.

Переговори затягуються. Бій Ломаченка можуть перенести

Previously, Haney accused the Ukrainian side of deliberately delaying the talks to give Lomachenko more time to prepare.

The absolute champion justified his words by the fact that it is difficult for him to maintain weight for such a long time and remain in the 135-pound division. The American is ready to enter the ring against the Ukrainian boxer in March 2023.

Lomachenko is currently hitting rock bottom in his life. Vasyl's thoughts are not about boxing, but about the Moscow Patriarchate. He got into yet another scandal after he published two parts of an address from the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Longin.

Second chance for Lomachenko

Vasyl has already unsuccessfully used one chance to win the coveted title of absolute world champion in lightweight. He lost to Teofimo Lopez, who already in the first defense of the titles gave them to the Australian George Cambosos. And here, too, there was a failure. The first fight of the new absolute champion ended with a defeat by Haney. Devin also won the rematch and still holds the championship titles.

Ломаченко – Хейні – можлива причина перенесення бою за абсолютIt will be recalled that due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, Lomachenko returned home and joined the ranks of the Terrodefense of his native Belgorod-Dnistrovskyi. Vasyl refused a title fight against Kambosos, who still held the titles at that time.

After that, Lomachenko did go abroad and had a warm-up fight against Jemaine Ortiz, whom he defeated according to the referee's notes.

Haney told where his fight against Lomachenko could take place. Currently, three arenas are competing for the absolute title - Madison Square Garden in New York, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and an arena in Saudi Arabia.
