Former world champion Deontay Wilder shared his thoughts on the duel between influencer and boxer Jake Paul and former Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
“I think there is a bit of scripting here, considering the weight difference, and Joshua is a former champion. Besides, he remains an active fighter.
This is the first time we are seeing Paul against an active boxer. We saw him against 58-year-old Mike Tyson. That was all fun and games. But now he will be dealing with a real professional. We will see how it all ends. Like I said already, I think this is a setup.
I want everyone to have fun. I want them to enjoy it, because we risk our lives for the entertainment of others. Just return home in safety, to have memories and say that we did a great job,” said Wilder in an interview with Fight Hub TV.
The 8-round Heavyweight bout between Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) will take place on December 19 in Miami, USA. The show will be broadcast by the streaming service Netflix.
Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) last entered the ring in June against Tyrrell Herndon and won by technical knockout in the 7th round. According to the American himself, he is currently negotiating a fight with three-time undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
