WBO Sanctions Usyk’s Next Fight: Opponent Named

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has approved a bout between undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and the Organization’s interim titleholder Joseph Parker. The New Zealander is now the mandatory challenger for the WBO belt.

The two sides have 30 days to reach an agreement. If they fail, the WBO will call a purse bid.

Joseph Parker (36‑3, 24 KOs), 33, last fought when he stopped Martin Bakole inside the distance. Oleksandr Usyk (24‑0, 15 KOs), 38, knocked out Daniel Dubois in the fifth round on 19 July, becoming a three‑time undisputed champion.
