WBC Sanctions Taylor–Cameron Fight

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has officially sanctioned a fight in the Super Lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg) between Ireland’s undisputed world champion Katie Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) and WBC interim champion Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs) of Great Britain.

Both camps were formally notified earlier this month and instructed to begin negotiations. They have until August 28 to reach an agreement, after which a purse bid will be called.

Taylor and Cameron have only ever lost to each other. In their first meeting in May 2023, Cameron won by majority decision, while in the rematch Taylor edged out a majority decision victory.

On July 11, Katie Taylor completed a trilogy with Amanda Serrano, winning by majority decision. On the same card, Chantelle Cameron defeated Jessica Camara via unanimous decision.
