Punch Statistics for WBC Grand Prix Round-of-16: A Detailed Count by Ready to Fight

From 20 to 21 June in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Round-of-16 of the WBC Grand Prix took place. Four prospect divisions were in action for the second playoff stage: Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight.

Featherweight

Total punches thrown: 5 844 (2 761 jabs, 3 083 power shots)

Landed: 1 014 (334 jabs, 680 power), including 258 to the body

Average per bout: 730.5 punches, 126.8 landed (over 32 to the body).

Per round: roughly 122 thrown, 21.1 accurate.

Super Lightweight

Total punches thrown: 6 248 (2 436 jabs, 3 812 power)

Landed: 890 (298 jabs, 592 power), with 158 to the body

Average per bout: about 781 punches (111 accurate).

Per round: 138.8 thrown, 19.8 landed; body work: 19.9 shots per bout.

Middleweight

Total punches thrown: 4 755 (1 794 jabs, 2 961 power)

Landed: 1 078 (331 jabs, 747 power), 187 to the body

Average: roughly 595 punches per bout (134.8 landed, 23.4 to the body).

Per round: 110.6 thrown, 25.1 accurate.

Heavyweight

Total punches thrown: 4 251 (1 971 jabs, 2 280 power)

Landed: 815 (289 jabs, 526 power), 182 to the body

Average: 531 punches per bout (102 landed) or 106.3 per round with 20.4 landing. Body shots: 22.8 per bout.

Activity highlights
