Fabio Wardley, the British interim WBA and WBO heavyweight champion, declared he’s more than ready to fight undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
“I can’t ask for more. I can’t want anything higher in this sport. All I ever asked for was the opportunity — and I got it. I’m not stopping now.
I’m not going into the ring with Usyk just to say, ‘Thanks for the invite,’ and roll over. That’s not my style. I think you saw that against Parker. So when the bell rings and we finally meet Usyk in the ring, he’ll have to work.
Tell Usyk to show up. Show him how to get to Ipswich. I’ll give him my address — he can come round, we can fight in my garden — I don’t care. The main thing is that he’s there and brings his belts,” Wardley said.
The Wardley–Parker fight ended in the 11th round; at the moment of the stoppage Parker was ahead on two of the three judges’ scorecards. Detailed fight stats from RTFight — via that link.
