Shannon Briggs’ Return Is on Hold

Former heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) says an injury has forced him to postpone his planned ring comeback.

I’ve been getting ready to return. I was supposed to fight last night, but I tore a meniscus and I’m sidelined for now. I’m aiming to be back around September or October.

I just got back from Miami, where I met with Adin Ross. He offered to set up a fight between me and Rampage Jackson. Rampage, I’m going to knock every tooth out of your mouth—there won’t be a single one left, champ. Zero teeth,” Briggs said.

Briggs had been slated to return on 1 July at the Troubadour arena in Nashville, Tennessee; the bout was later shifted to 5 August.

The 53-year-old last fought in May 2016, knocking out Emilio Zarate in the opening round.
