Bohachuk Offered Fight to Murtazaliev: “They Shift It to Politics”

Ukrainian Super Welterweight Serhii Bohachuk spoke about how his team offered a fight to russian IBF champion Bahram Murtazaliev.

“There were talks. But as far as I know, they don’t want this fight. Of course, we do. Because there’s a belt on the line. As far as I know, we made the offer, but they don’t want the fight for now — they shift it to politics. They say it’s not a very good time to hold it.

To be honest, I don’t even know. Honestly, I don’t even want to talk about it. Look… politics is politics… We are at war with them… And for me to take their title — it would show that we are stronger. I think if this fight happened, and if I won, it would be great motivation for Ukraine, a solid boost. It would show that we’re pushing them here, and we’ll keep pushing them there. Because even such a victory is added motivation. And I hear and know how hard it is for the guys there now.

They say Murtazaliev is a normal guy. As far as I know, he has normal views. He’s against the war and all that. But honestly, I don’t know him personally. We’ve never crossed paths. What’s the truth? I don’t know… I don’t know anything about his position. I can’t speak for him. But a fight with him would interest me, because there’s a title. And my goal is to take the title and unify them,” said Bohachuk.

Serhii Bohachuk (26-2, 24 KOs) will face Brandon Adams in his next fight — a rematch. Adams was the first to defeat Bohachuk in the pros. Bahram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KOs) knocked out Tim Tszyu in his previous fight.
