American boxer Ryan Garcia shared his view on what happened in the fight between Lamont Roach and Isaac Cruz.
“I would say Roach boxed in his own style for most of the fight. However, Lamont did the right thing. I think it was smart. People tried to criticize him, but he went at ‘Pitbull.’
Cruz can’t fight like he did last time. So when Lamont started doing the same thing, he was kind of breaking ‘Pitbull.’ ‘Pitbull’ was uncomfortable and didn’t know what to do next. He decided to imitate boxing, as if he was fighting. He doesn’t know how to box.
When the 10th or 11th round came, I think ‘Pitbull’ caught him again and shook him a little, which made the fight a draw, because then ‘Pitbull’ won the 11th and 12th, which is surprising, since Lamont had the momentum. But he didn’t switch into: ‘I’m making a statement now.’ He could have kept hitting him, but he stopped,” Garcia said.
The fight between Cruz (28-3-2, 18 KO) and Roach (25-1-3, 10 KO) ended in a draw. It was Lamont’s second draw in 2025.
