Regis Prograis on Whether Devin Haney Can Defeat Ryan Garcia

Former super lightweight world champion Regis Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) shared his thoughts on a possible rematch between Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).

“I’m not going to say Haney is done. I don’t think that. But I don’t believe he’ll beat Ryan. In his mind, he knows he lost. He got knocked down three times, and Ryan whooped him.

That’s always going to be in his head. No matter what they say, or what Bill Haney says, it’ll still be there in the subconscious: ‘Damn, he really beat me.’ Regardless of what they say about steroids and all that nonsense.

You can say whatever you want, but the fact remains—he lost. Yes, Ryan made a mistake, he used something he shouldn’t have, but how much did that really impact the outcome? I don’t think Devin can beat Ryan. But if he fights someone else, who knows?” said Prograis to YSM Sports Media.

Recall that in April, Garcia defeated Haney by decision. However, because Ryan failed a doping test, the fight’s result was overturned, and Garcia received a one-year suspension. Shortly afterward, Devin announced he would be taking a year off.
