Japanese boxer Shigetoshi Kotari passes away

On August 8, 28-year-old Japanese super featherweight Shigetoshi Kotari passed away.

The cause of death was a traumatic brain injury sustained during his drawn bout against fellow countryman Yamato Hata on August 2 in Tokyo, Japan.

Immediately after the fight, Kotari lost consciousness — he was diagnosed with a brain hematoma and underwent emergency surgery. However, his condition did not improve, and after six days of fighting for his life, he passed away.
