IBF Strips Saul Alvarez of His Title

According to ESPN, undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) will be stripped of his IBF title.

This will happen ahead of Canelo fight against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs), scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas, USA.

The International Boxing Federation's decision is due to Alvarez missing a mandatory defense against challenger William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs).

As a result, the titles on the line in the bout between Alvarez and Berlanga will be the WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight belts.
