Hughie Fury Bout Cancelled

The heavyweight clash between Britain’s Hughie Fury (30-3, 17 KO) and Belgium’s Michael Pirotton (10-1, 4 KO), scheduled for 28 June in Halle, United Kingdom, has been called off.

The British Boxing Board of Control refused to clear Fury after medical reports showed the metacarpal fractures he suffered in April against Dan Garber have not fully healed.

“Hughie didn’t want to pull out and insisted he was ready to step in and win. But the Board takes fighter health very seriously and will not allow him to compete until the hand is completely healed.

Hughie is disappointed to be removed from the card, yet he respects the Board’s decision. He’ll stay in shape and aims to return in late August or early September. His goal is unchanged—becoming heavyweight world champion in 2026,” a team spokesperson said.

On 4 April Fury stopped Dan Garber by technical knockout in round five. Later that month Michael Pirotton lost a unanimous decision to Piotr Łącz.
