Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn admitted that he was impressed by how Puerto Rican boxer Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) has been carrying himself ahead of his fight against Mexican world champion Saúl Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs), who holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles in the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg).
"I have to say, I’ve never seen a Canelo opponent so confident. Of course, anyone going up against Canelo Álvarez is going to be the underdog, but Berlanga is so sure of himself.
Berlanga is in the best shape of his life, full of confidence, and has power in his punches. We’re in for an exciting fight. This guy isn’t stepping into the ring for the money—he’s stepping in to win, and he’s full of confidence," Hearn stated.
Edgar Berlanga and Saúl Álvarez will face off on September 14 in Las Vegas, USA.
