Haney on Ennis: “Who Is He?”

WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney has spoken about past negotiations regarding a potential fight with Jaron “Boots” Ennis.

“Back then I wasn’t even boxing at welterweight yet. I said: ‘No — if you can come down to welter, we’ll make the fight.’

Yeah, you can ask Mike Coppinger. You can ask Turki Alalshikh. Anybody. I said: ‘Yes, let’s do it. Welterweight. But I’m not moving up to 154 for Boots.’

In his previous bout, Haney defeated Brian Norman to claim the WBO title at 147 lbs. Ennis, meanwhile, scored a first-round knockout over Lima in October 2025.
