Gervonta–Roach 2: Asked If the Fight Still Matters, Lamont Responds

Reigning WBA Super Featherweight champion Lamont Roach answered a question about whether a rematch against WBA Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is still relevant to him.

“I don’t think about it. I’ve already moved on from it, even from the thought of it. I don’t care about it at all; he doesn’t interest me. What happened, happened. I’m not thinking about a rematch with him at all,” said Roach.

The first fight between Lamont (25-1-2, 10 KO) and Gervonta (30-0-1, 28 KO) took place on March 1, 2025. Davis and the bout’s referee were heavily criticized for an episode in which, in the opinion of many, a knockdown should have been counted. In the end, the judges rendered a draw.

A rematch was later expected to take place. However, Gervonta chose an exhibition bout against Jake Paul, which he later pulled out of due to allegations of violence against a woman.
