Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on the fight between IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) and the WBO interim champion in the same division, Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs).
“I think Joe Parker will win. I really do. I’m a big Joe Parker fan. He’s a friend of mine. I’m kind of his unofficial promoter.
Everyone’s talking about Zurdo Ramirez, Oleksandr Usyk. As for Dubois, it’s either Usyk or a rematch with AJ that people are discussing. Joe does everything he needs to do to beat Dubois: He’ll push him into the later rounds, work at a high pace, he’s got a solid chin, keeps attacking, and gradually breaks down his opponent.
In the past, Dubois had a stamina threshold that came into question after three or four rounds. Now, with his confidence, that threshold might be seven, eight, or nine rounds. You have to take him there, and then make Dubois question his own resolve. Joe is the kind of fighter who can do that, so I think he’ll win,” Hearn said.
The bout between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker is set for February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
